A Message From LeAnn Woo
UNDERCLASSMEN, PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT & WILL ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME.
I want to take the time to detail my time on the Interact office. Being an officer has opened a world of opportunities to me. I have met so many amazing people. They have become such an important part of my life, and sometimes I wonder what I would do without them. I know this may seem cliched and uninteresting to you, but trust me. I felt the exact same way when I pushed to apply. The last two years I have dedicated a lot of time to this club, and I don’t regret a single second of it. I have transformed from an extremely socially awkward girl (more so than now) to someone who is capable of speaking in front of crowds without feeling like I’m going to faint from nervousness. I’ve learned to be compassionate and genuinely happy, even when things aren’t going great for me. I can’t emphasize this enough, but I really don’t know where I would be without this club. I’m sorry this is so incredibly cheesy, but it is just so incredibly true.
I find that a lot of us struggle with trivial matters, such as grades and relationships. I’ve had my share of bad experiences, but things get better.Interact was there for me when I needed help. My fellow officers, club members, and other Interactors from around the Bay have helped me cope with things I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. Interact really opens a HUGE window of opportunities…which leads me to what I want to say to you all:
IF YOU HAVE GIVEN EVEN AN IOTA OF A THOUGHT ABOUT APPLYING, DO IT.
I was pushed into applying for office my freshman year by a pesky senior, and I am forever grateful to him. I just love this club so much. Interact is all about helping the community and bettering the world, but to do that, we have to make the decision to WANT to do that. The idea that we raise money for charity and change the world may seem extremely vague, so let me put it in simpler terms: Interact betters the world by bettering ourselves first. Once we know what we want, we find ways to get it. Together,we can be the change we want to see in the world.
And with that, I conclude this lengthy email. I encourage ALL of you to apply; if you really want it, it will be one of the best experiences of your life. I am not kidding you. I hope to receive many applications from you all <3
Applications are due on Wednesday, April 4th. Turn them into me, LeAnn Woo, or Arthur Tran, OR in room H-06. If you have not received one, drop an ask with your email and I will forward it to you.
PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING feel free to email me at leann_woo@yahoo.com, AIM me sakuraavalaon, reply to this message, or message me on Facebook. I am open to all questions, and will give you answers.
If you are still reading, thank you for taking the time to do so!!!
I hope to receive many applications from all you prospective officers.
PEACE, LOVE, INTERACT!!
LeAnn Woo
